For something a little more lighthearted

This is the first window of a comic strip I made about Danielle, Lucy and me. I made it with the help of a neat little flash page.

You can make one too.

Canadians beware!

Some important words from Mary Mason, a senior lawyer for the U.S. government. To state the obvious, she is representing you and me.

The U.S. government is interpreting its powers in such a way that passengers never intending to enter the U.S. connecting to international flights at U.S. airports must prove they are no threat and could be allowed to enter the country.

If passengers are deemed to be inadmissible, they have no constitutional rights even if later taken to an American prison. Mason told Judge David Trager that's because they are deemed to be still outside the U.S., from a legal point of view.

Mason said the interpretation means travelers can be detained without charge, denied the right to consult a lawyer, and even refused necessities such as food and sleep.

...later on in article,

But in a motion filed this week, the U.S. Justice Department argues that even if torture does occur, U.S. officials can't be sued under the Torture Victims Protection Act because it only applies to foreign individuals committing or allowing torture.

This may offend some of you...

...it may offend all of you.
But I laughed. A lot.

Your city's a sucker!

I'm listening to the compilation album from
DFA records. An fairly eclectic mix of music.
If you go to the radio section of the website,
you can hear some tunes. If you don't like the music, tough nuts.

bonjour!

choice!

I hate it when people come up with cool ideas like this.
And by the way, nice friend!

a shout out to my benefactor for this one

I dig the tune, I dig the show. Amazing for a student project.
Music for when you just fall in love, or after you get dumped.

Every time I turn on PBS

I see f***ing Richard Proenneke.

There is a show about his life in Alaska called Alone in the Wilderness. It is mesmerizing much like a infomercial. I wish that I had 1/10 of his talent, though if I did, no one would ever see me again.
Anyone who has watched a whole episode of This Old House or the New Yankee Workshop might be interested in catching this show about him.

Don't get me wrong...

I love the sun. But I woke up this morning to one of those classic Seattle days and it put me in a great mood. It was the perfect morning for walking around town listening to Édith Piaf.

research project #135

Requested by: Michael
Subject: Ring Around The Rosie
Question: Is it about the Black Plauge

Nope, it looks like it's not. Also not about Shiva, the Hindu deity. Academic opinion is that it was a way for children to skirt strict religious laws against dancing. Generally thought to be comprised of random rhyming words. Snopes had it covered but I followed up.

Anything else?
