Funny, I know every word to that song, but the nature of how my brain processes song lyrics (merely memorization, not actually tying the lyrics together to get the bigger picture), I never knew that the song was one complete narrative.
More often than not I have a completely different narrative running in my head, because I've gotten the words wrong. Only if I READ lyrics as I'm listening to a song do I actually get the full narrative.

That's interesting. I'm exactly the opposite. I am always listening to lyrics as a story.

My cousins and I used to put on plays for our grandparents acting this song out. This version is good, but ours was much better of course.

I used to sing this in the outdoor courtyard ("the quad" as we claled it) in high school with my friend Niall. I remember some girl yelling from her homeroom, wanting to know what the song was. She'd never heard it and thought it was funny. It's a really sick song. Reminds be of the Elvis C. song "Psycho" about a guy who kills his dates and then his mom. It's a lot less poppy and much more haunting and creepy. This little video is pretty funny but also icky. :) How could Plaid not know what it was about! I'm with Leggo here, lyrics MUST be figured out!

I didn't say I didn't know what it was about, Patty. I said I didn't know it was one complete narrative (with Maxwell going to court and all). I just thought it was a series of head-bangings.
