fyi
As some of you know, sometimes I go onto the computer and look around the World Wide Web. I often find the need to look up definitions or the histories of things.
When doing so, I have come to rely on a web site call Wikipedia. I guess I just assumed that everyone knew about it, like Google or Yahoo or Goatse.
The other day I offhandedly mentioned the site to a friend that often "surfs" or "browses" the World Wide Web. She had no idea what I was talking about. I figured that maybe I should make a post about it, since I get most of my information from there. A shout goes out to this anarchical information source.

women on television
No, I'm not talking about Desperate Housewives or Gilmore Girls.
I'm talking about fuckin' Bryan Fuller. If you don't know, he is the creator of Fox's "Wonderfalls" and Showtime's "Dead Like Me". Both cancelled.
Wonderfalls was axed after 4 episodes. Fortunately for many, they had filmed the entire season and recently released the whole thing on DVD. Many of my peeps gave it a 7+.
Dead Like Me lasted 2 seasons. It's my ultimate television guilty pleasure. I'm watching the DVDs of the second season now and am double happy. Mandy Patinkin is reason enough to watch. And I'm not too sad about Laura Harris being on the show.
There isn't a lot of reason to be watching tv in the first place, but with shows like Arrested Development, Chappelle's Show & Carnivàle on the chopping block, maybe I'll start knitting... or reading.

The good and bad on this day in history
1944: Nazi police in Amsterdam, Holland, acting on an informant's tip, discover Anne Frank and family in hiding. The eight lived in a single secret room for 728 days. Sent to the notorious Bergen-Belsen concentration camp, where they were all killed, except for her father. He returned to the house after the war and found his daughter's diary.
1964: Bodies of civil rights volunteers Michael Schwerner, Andrew Goodman, and James Chaney found near Philadelphia, Mississippi.
1988: Congress votes $20,000 to each Japanese-American interned in WWII.
1995: Pres. Clinton orders an end to the Cold War-era prohibition against granting security clearances to gays.

So, have I mentioned to you
...that I am obsessed with Pimp My Ride UK?
Well, I am.
You can watch edited versions of the shows on the site. For some reason I am really enamored with the Boss, Jamie's haircut. You can find him if you "Enter"
And the host, Westwood, what a freak. It's like watching Xzibit on acid or absinthe. Hollah!

I don't have the MTV so bear with me.
First up is Minty Royale with a pretty cool remix of "Singin' In The Rain" with a bit of Kleenex box dancing thrown in for good measure. I just linked to the site and you can pick the Windows Media or Realplayer version. Watch out, the site plays music automatically when it loads.
Then, my favorite, which certainly is on MTV, but whatever, is Carpark North with "Human". Wow, great casting and some amazing shots. I watched it again and again.
If you don't like the vids, comment and I'll post less of them. Maybe.
